The events dedicated to the memory of the deceased crew members took place in Vladivostok.

VLADIVOSTOK. December 17. VOSTOK-MEDIA – A monument will be erected to the memory of the crew of the TU-142 plane (Russian Pacific Fleet) that crashed in the Tatar Strait, press office of the Pacific Ocean Fleet quoted Vice-Admiral Konstantin Sidenko, Commander Pacific Fleet, as saying.

On December 16, an evening dedicated to the memory of the crew was held in Vladivostok-based air garrison Kamenny Ruchey. Vice-Admiral Konstantin Sidenko held a meeting with family members of the eleven crew members killed in the military plane crash in Garrison Officers’ Club. The meeting was followed by procession.

At the meeting, Commander of the Pacific Fleet expressed his sincere condolences to family members and dear ones and stated that Pacific Fleet Command will do its utmost to help solve all relevant issues, especially social ones.

After the meeting the funeral procession started from the Officers Club and moved on along the central street of the garrison.

Soon after, the participants of the funeral procession boarded Kalar tug owned by Pacific Fleet and headed for the Tatar Strait to continue the events in memory of the deceased.

Arch-priest Andrey Zyryanov led the funeral prayer for the deceased during the memorial service, which took place off Datta Cape. Relatives laid wreaths and flowers into the sea to the accompaniment of orchestra and shots of the guards of honor.

Meanwhile, the search for the crashed aircraft and flight data recorders continues. The weather in the search area is favorable, officials said. The ice situation doesn’t hinder the search operations.

On November 6 Tu-142 was on a routine mission in the Tatar Strait off Sading Cape (Khabarovsk Krai) when the plane dropped suddenly off the radar screens. Officials say there were 11 crew members on board the military plane.

The Russia’s Ministry of Defense launched the search sending several planes, helicopter and Pacific Fleet ships. In addition, two passenger ferries Sakhalin 9 and Sakhalin 10 and depot tugs were involved in the search-and-rescue operation.
