Russian University Students to Be Forced to Pass Drug Test

18 февраля 2008, 12:26
The Initiative of the State Duma is supported either by drug control service or by university professors.

VLADIVOSTOK. February 18. VOSTOK MEDIA – Russian university students will be forced to pass a drug test this year. The initiative was made by a number of the State Duma deputies. The bill shall isolate especially important professions from unreliable specialists.
The Primorsky Krai branch of the Federal Drug Control Service comments on the current situation:
Some universities of Russia such as the Bauman Moscow State Technical University already implement the practice of drug tests. The Bauman MSTU has been providing the drug tests for students of the military training faculty for six years. The applicants are required to pass the urine test that indicates drugs consumption. The results of the test are submitted to the Admission Committee. The students who were found consuming drugs are usually not admitted to the university.
The Primorsky Krai hasn’t yet implemented such measures but the substation may change soon. The tests shall become a preventive measure to make the youth think before using drugs.
