2010 Beringia International Sled Dog Race to be Held in Kamchatka

So far, 18 mushers have signed up for the event.

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. February 18. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The 20th anniversary 2010 Beringia sled dog race kicks off in Kamchatka on March 13. Race organizers have extended their invitations to mushers from around the world.


So far, two dog drivers from Germany, two from the Chukotka Autonomous District, and 16 mushers from Kamchatka were registered to compete in the 950-km race. Aleksandr Drozdov, the Chairman of the organizing committee, stated the registration of entrants is continuing, as is preparations for the event.


2010 Beringia is jointly funded by Kamchatka Krai Administration and KGD Social Partner KAO.


The winner will receive Russian made off-road vehicle UAZ Patriot. The second-place finisher will get a snowmobile Yamaha, the third – outboard engine Suzuki.


The 950-km 2010 Beringia runs from Esso village to Ossora village.


This year, Beringia has acquired the status of official holiday of Kamchatka Krai.
