Officials say the construction of 30 low-rise houses, a bath-house, shops, and other community infrastructure and facilities will be completed by August, 2010.

BLAGOVESHCHENSK. February 18. VOSTOK-MEDIA – A special village for veterans of the Great Patriotic War to be constructed in Blagoveshchensk. From now on, the interests of WWII veterans and their widows will be represented by the recently established Council under the Governor of Amur Oblast, a spokesman for Amur Oblast Administration told Vostok-Media.

At the first session of the Council it was decided that the veteran’s village will consist of 30 low-rise modular houses. Amur blast Gov. Sergei Kozhemyako came up with the proposal to tailor the village to suit the needs of WWII veterans as much as possible, in particular, to construct a bath-house, shops, and other community infrastructure and facilities. The lists of those veterans who are most in need of new housing will be drawn up in the nearest future. Yuri Kuznetsov, the Chairman of the Council, stated that veterans will receive all the documents necessary for resettlement in new houses as early as in August 2010.

Along with providing the WWII vets with new housing, the Council under the Amur Oblast Governor is also responsible for the preparations for the 65th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and provision of social assistance to the veterans.
