Individuals May Soon be Allowed to Mine for Gold

VLADIVOSTOK. March 18. VOSTOK-MEDIA – It seems like gold turns out to be not only the pleasing product but also be addition to pension. The Government may allow individuals to mine for gold as one of anticrisis measures. The Russian President assigned the Government to analyze such possibility.
Meanwhile in Magadan region many pensioners wish to mine for gold. Besides, the official number of unemployed accounts for 4012 persons. A person does not need much to become a free miner. For that purpose one need to get a tray and welded sheets of iron with sieve and go to abandoned mining polygon.
The specialists of Magadan assure that one may get 2-3 gr. of gold a day. It is unlikely that a person could enrich himself by this but he may at least earn money for bread and butter. The proposed measure should reduce social strain.
Some individuals residing near the places of placer mines, namely in Khabarovsk region, Chukotka, Amur and Magadan region and also in Yakutia found the idea interesting.
Though, in private conversation with the informant from Ministry of Finance the latter said that the attitude of the Government toward private mining remains negative.
Though, his opinion coincides with the opinion of Viktor Tarakanovskiy, the head of the Russian Union of Placer Miners. According to Viktor this measure will give nothing but wave of theft, crimes and illegal gold trafficking.
