The Profession of Journalist is getting Dangerous in Russia

VLADIVOSTOK. June 18. VOSTOK-MEDIA – According to the Glasnost Defense Foundation and Center for Journalism in Extreme Situations more than 300 fatalities and disappearances of journalists were reported in Russia between 1993 and 2009.
According to experts, Russias journalists’ death record stands in stark contrast to others on the global scene.
Here in Russia, reporters are beaten into coma, to a degree that they are hardly able to survive after assault and they don’t get back to newsmaking any more. Thus, four cases were analyzed. And it turned out that investigations on these cases were not conducted thoroughly, no guilty persons were found, said secretary of the Union of Journalists of Russia Vsevolod Boganov.
