First Cloned Antiviral Pigs in China

VLADIVOSTOK. 18 September. VOSTOK-MEDIA. First in the world cloned hogs with antiviral genes against hog cholera appeared in the laboratories of agricultural Tsilinsk University (North-East of China). It shows that China reached an international level in selection of transgenetic hogs which are not exposed to viral diseases. Hog cholera threatens world hog breeding. Professors from agricultural faculty of Tsilinsk University and scientists of Medical Military Academy have spent two years to genetically modify a hog that is antiviral to hog cholera. This embryo was transferred into hog mother and after 114 days she brought into being three sound hogs.
Cell analysis proved that their cells contain antiviral genes against hog cholera. Now scientists continue study of antiviral “abilities” of hogs.
