MOSCOW. February 19. VOSTOK-MEDIA – ‘United Russia’ supported the idea of creating car factory in the Far East of the Russian Federation that will assemble passenger cars and buses. According to Boris Gryzlov, Chairman of high council of ‘United Russia’ it will be the ‘private project’, though the party will lend it maximum assistance.
Gryzlov reported that the grounds for construction of one or several car factories were already defined. The plants may be constructed in Khabarovks, Altai Territory and Primorskiy Krai. Now ‘United Russia’ is looking for partners in Asia for execution of the project but it is likely that Japanese partners will not be among them. It is possible that South Korean companies will take part in construction of the car factory.
We remind that there were already attempts to construct car factory in the Far East of Russia. Namely, in summer 2008 ‘Sollers’ company announced its intention to assemble Ssang Yong offroadsters and commercial automobiles Isuzu. Though, this project was frozen because of financial difficulties.
