The 22nd Conference of Mayors of the cities of the Russian Far East, Siberia and West Coast of Japan will be held there

VLADIVOSTOK. August 18. VOSTOK-MEDIA - The 22nd Conference of Mayors of the cities of the Russian Far East, Siberia and West Coast of Japan will be held in the Hakodate, Japan on August 19-23.





At the request of Igor Pushkarev, Mayor of Vladivostok city, the capital of the Primorsky Krai will be represented by Alexander Zubritskiy, Deputy Mayor of Vladivostok, and Vyacheslav Kushnarev, Head of the International Relations and Tourism Department, at the recognized international conference. The delegation from the city of Vladivostok will submit a report on the development of the international relations in the regional center, reported press-service of the Vladivostok Administration.





Along with formal events, participation in discussions and sharing of experience, the delegation is scheduled to meet with the Mayors of the sister cities of Niigata and Akita and also hold talks with the manager of the large medical corporation on issues relating to the development of health care cooperation.

The Conference of Mayors of Siberia, Russian Far East and Western Coast of Japan has been established in the late sixties. Mayors of sister cities of Japan and Russia became the members of the Conference. At present there are more than 40 members both from Russia and Japan in the conference. Vladivostok, having established twin-city relations with the cities of Niigata in 1991, Hakodate and Akita in 1992, became a member of the Conference. Mayor of Khabarovsk act as the Chairman of the Conference from the Russian side, while a Mayor of Niigata acts as the Chairman from the Japanese side.


The Conference takes place biennually, alternately in Russia and Japan. In 1991 the Conference took place in Vladivostok.
