Canada’s authorities have granted more attention to the development of the multilateral relations with the capital of Primorsky Krai due to the preparation for the APEC-2012 Summit

VLADIVOSTOK. August 19. VOSTOK-MEDIA - Igor Pushkarev, Mayor of Vladivostok city held a formal meeting with Ralf Lisition, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada to Russian Federation, Republic of Armenia and Uzbekistan.

Deputy Mayor of Vladivostok Elena Gavro, head of International Relations and Tourism Department of Vladivostok city Administration Vitaly Eremenko and Honorary Consul of Canada in Vladivostok were also present at the meeting.

Having more than 30 years of experience in the diplomatic corps, including his work in Embassy of Canada in the USSR, Ralf Lisishin has visited Vladivostok for the first time. Canada’s authorities have granted more attention to the development of the multilateral relations with the capital of Primorsky Krai due to the preparation for the APEC-2012 Summit to be held in Vladivostok. The programme of the visit of the Canada’s Ambassador to Primorsky Krai includes holding talks with the regional authorities, inquiries into the business opportunities of the region and prospects for its development.

“The decision of the Russian Government to hold APEC-2012 summit in Vladivostok, including the implementation of the federal decree on ‘Development of the city of Vladivostok as center for the international co-operation in the Asia-Pacific region’ has taken shape in the construction of unique bridges, pollution control facilities,” – said Igor Pushkarev, - “The reconstruction of the airport and projecting of road juncture are also underway. Once the summit is closed, the Federal University will be built on the Russky Island, which is supposed to boost educational level in Vladivostok putting the city on a level with the top industry performers of Asia-Pacific region. It will also draw professionals with specific skill sets, which in turn will improve demographic situation in the region and bring to naught the outflow of the city’s residents to the central regions of the country”.

During his meeting with Mayor of Vladivostok, the Canada’s Ambassador expressed his interest in obtaining objective information relating to solving of the demographic problems, social development, tourism and implementation of complex anti-crisis measures in the capital of Primorsky Krai. He expressed gratitude to Igor Pushkarev for providing detailed data on social and economic outlook of the city and stated that as soon as he gets to Canada he will make every possible effort to draw investments in Vladivostok, reported press-service of Vladivostok.
