Washington, S. Korea to Stage Another Naval Exercise

VLADIVOSTOK. August 19. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Pentagon announced Wednesday about its plans to stage yet another joint US-South Korea antisubmarine exrercise in the Yellow Sea early next month, Yonhap News reported.

North Korea and China expressed strong disapproval about the announcement, Yonhap wrote.

South Korean authorities said that the coming exercise is a part of a series of military exercises planned in response to the sinking of the South Korean warship Cheonan, which an international investigation showed was caused by a North Korean torpedo.

Pentagon’s proposal to conduct joint exercise was made despite the fact that the current stage of exercise, which has started on Monday, is not yet over.

The previous wargames of the US and South Korean navy were held in July in the Sea of Japan, Gazeta.ru reported.
