Vladivostok Hosts Go Game Tournament

The 6th round of the Japanese Consul-General Cup Go Tournament takes place in the capital of Primorsky Krai on October 24-25.

VLADIVOSTOK. October 19. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The 6th round of the Japanese Consul-General Cup Go Tournament takes place in Vladivostok on October 24-25.


Go game is a strategic board game played by two players who alternately place black and white stones on the vacant intersections of a grid named <i>goban</i>. The object of the game is to control a larger portion of the board than the opponent. Go game originated in ancient China and is most popular in East Asia.


According to the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok, the present tournament, which is aimed at boosting Go in Russia and improvement of players’ skill level. The first Russian Go Tournament was held in 2004.


The competition is to take place in the Institute of Eastern Asia of the Nevelskoy Maritime State University (building #10; 7th floor) on October 24-25, 10:00 local time.
