“Nerpa” Stays In Russia
After investigation and reconstruction works the submarine will be added to armoury of the Pacific Fleet
PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKIY. 19 November. VOSTOK-MEDIA. The atomic submarine “Nerpa” will not be sold out to India as it had been planed before. After the investigation of why the tragedy happened on the submarine and why it took away humans’ lives, the submarine will be added to the Pacific Fleet armoury, probably, one of the divisions on Kamchatka. This information was proved by the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, the General of the Army, Nikolay Makarov who said that finances for reconstruction and investigation had been already given in the framework of the program on new equipment supply.
The majority of “Nerpa” crew is sailors from Kamchatka and two of them, the III Rank Captain – Alexandr Podbornov and sub-officer Alexandr Prudnikov died in the second sector of the submarine.
