VLADIVOSTOK. November 19. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Members of Primorsky Krai Orthodox Youth Community will conduct an anti-smoking campaign at the Central Square of Vladivostok today, November 19.
According to the organizers, the campaign is timed for the International Day Against Smoking, which is celebrated globally on the third Thursday of November. Members of Primorsky Krai Orthodox Youth Community will swap sweets for cigarettes and distribute informational leaflets on adverse effects of tobacco smoking.
Smoking is at heart of more than 25 serious diseases, which may lead to lethal outcome. Every year tobacco causes some 5 million deaths.
Tobacco manufacturing companies spend a lot of money on advertizing. Cigarettes are available just about everywhere. Tobacco shops are set up near parks, child care centers, maternity hospitals and at every single bus stop. While some people make a pretty penny out of the business, others impair their health. Its not a man who sucks on a cigarette, but a cigarette, that sucks out all life out of man. Smoking can easily become a habit and then suddenly it may become an integral part of us.
The International Day Against Smoking is just one of the means to raise public awareness of problem of tobacco smoking as well as to remind smokers of non-smoking people around and all hazards of this bad habit.
