Oil tankers of Primorsk Shipping Corporation will participate in delivering blue-sky fuel to consumers

VLADIVOSTOK. February 20. VOSTOK-MEDIA – “Gas liquefaction in Sakhalin meets the interests of the Russian Federation”- says Dmitriy Medvedev.
“New markets will be opened for out productions. Our country joins automatically the 15 countries-exporters of liquefied natural gas.” – stated the head of the Government. The gas that was produced in the plant is contracted in decades in advance and there will be no such plans in the near future,- Russia will own 5 % of the LNG market.
65 % of produced gas will be supplied to Japan, 20 % in west coast of North America and the rest in South Korea.
The project opens new perspectives for the region. It must be noted that ‘Sakhalin-2’ is only 9 % of all gas reserves of Sakhalin. As to the plant itself its capacity will account for 9.6 million tons of liquid natural gas that is equivalent to 14 billion cubic meters of common gas running through pipe lines. Though, the plant will attain its maximum capacity only in the next year.
The liquefied natural gas will be delivered by floating LNG carrierswith 145,00 cubic meters capacity. The tankers are in long-term freight and owned by two Russian- Japan cosortiums. ‘Sovcomflot’ and Primorsk Shipping Corporation are the Russian participants of the project.
One of the largest LNG plants cost $ 3.6 billion.
As soon as investors will recoup its expenses the plant will pass into the ownership of the Russian Federation.
