Environmental Regulations are Violated in Woods of Primorskiy Krai (photo-report)
VLADIVOSTOK. February 20. VOSTOK-MEDIA - Environmental Regulations are regularly Violated in Forests of Primorskiy Krai.
“At the places of cleaning cutting in taiga carried out by the forestry union of Primorskiy Krai we found numerous violations of environmental regulations. For example it was a usual practice that in close wood ‘Taiozhnyi’ were felled twice as much as legally permitted felling volume.
We also found several storage yards. Saw cuts indicate that the cleaning cutting turned out to be storage of industrial wood.”-says Denis Smirnov, coordinator of forest program of the Russian branch of WWF.
“It is unlikely that anything will grow on the ground after such cleaning cutting. They employ barbarous methods in their forestry activity. Often storaged wood is simply left in the forest when there is no legal permit to take it out of taiga. After cleaning cutting carried out by forestry union of Primorskiy Krai only studs were left.”-added Denis Smirnov.
