Two Goshawks Reintroduced into the Wild in Kamchatka

The injured birds were kept for several months in a goose farm located in Yelizovo District.

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. October 20. VOSTOK-MEDIA - Two goshawks, one of which had been brought down by an unknown hunter and the other got injured when it collided with electric line wires, were reintroduced into the wild.


According to the Kamchatka regional Wildlife Preservation Agency, the injured birds were kept for several months in a goose farm located in Yelizovo District. Highly skilled animal care takers helped the birds to regain their strength and did all possible so that they would not lost their ability to fly.


After the panel of experts examined the goshawks, they were taken to the head of Levaya Avacha River and released into the wild. “Even though goshawk is not a rare bird in Kamchatka, it is very beautiful, dynamic and it surely deserves a special treatment.” – said an expert.
