Gerald Ford-Brezhnev Summit in Vladivostok – 35 Years On

Vladivostok Mayor Igor Pushkarev has come forward with a proposal to hold a number of events to mark the 35th anniversary of Leonid Brezhnev - Gerald Ford talks in Vladivstok.

VLADIVOSTOK. November 20. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Vladivostok Mayor Igor Pushkarev has come forward with a proposal to hold a number of events to mark the 35th anniversary of Leonid Brezhnev - Gerald Ford talks, which were held in Vladivostok. Today this proposal has been brought into practice.


The US Consul General in Vladivostok Tom Armbruster has sent a letter of gratitude to Igor Pushkarev which reads as follows: “Thank you very much for your proposal to cooperate in the framework of 35th anniversary of the Gerald Ford-Brezhnev summit in Vladivostok in 1974. I confirm the visit of Executive director of the Gerald R. Ford Foundation Joseph Calvaruso and his wife in Vladivostok. I am confident that this event will boost understanding between our countries. I appreciate your support for this visit.”


According to deputy mayor of Vladivostok Alexander Zubritsky, during his visit, Mr. Calvaruso will meet with Vladivostok mayor Igor Pushkarev. On Tuesday November 24 at 10 am Joseph Calvaruso will hold a round-table meeting “Vladivostok and Russia-US Relations 1974-2009” at the Gorky library (59, Nekrasovskaya Street). Political analysts, representatives of non-profit organizations, reporters are welcome to attend the meeting, press service of Vladivostok Administration reports.
