China Taking Care of Populace’s Mind
Authorities of the People’s Republic of China toughen restrictions against broadcasting foreign animated cartoons on the television.
Chinese media report that according to a decree of the Central Administrative Board on Affairs of Broadcasting, Cinematography and TV of the Peoples Republic of China, screening of foreign cartoons between 5 and 9 p.m. a day will be prohibited since May 1. The demonstration of joint Chinese-foreign works requires a permission of the board. Thus, the Chinese government plans to support the national animation industry.
China has also completely prohibited the show of audio and video relating to the genre of horrors. The authorities say that this measure is aimed at “protection of psychological development of children and teenagers.”
