VLADIVOSTOK. May 21. VOSTOK-MEDIA - The pension reform is going to cost the Government hundreds of billions rubles annually, but it is inadmissible to postpone the reform.

This was stated by Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation at the conference on issues of financing the reform, public health service and population policy.

“The cost of the pension reform is very high – hundreds of billions a year” – stated the Prime Minister, -“Moreover, as it was stated before, the tax burden on businesses wont be raised in 2010. This task will pose quite a tall order for State Duma deputies in the context of production cuts brought about by the global financial crisis and state budget slashes.”

The Prime Minister stated that such expenditures are our moral obligation to the older generation, and the reform should not be postponed any longer.

“A significant revaluation of pension schemes and benefits, including those enjoyed by people who worked and retired before the USSR breakup., - is the main goal that we should attain in 2010.” – said Vladimir Putin.

The reform provides a 45% rise in absolute terms in the pension size, the average pension amount will be increased to 7,964 rubles, and social pension will be increased to 4,917 rubles.
