PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. March 22. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Today, the crews of Kamchatka long-liners owned by Akros ZAO have stopped picketing of the Kamchatka Krai community liaison office of Vladimir Putin.

“According to the Federal Fisheries Agency, a considerable progress has been achieved in settling the issue of the long-liners, which were built under the state guarantee,” said Igor Kovalenko, Deputy Chairman of Kamchatka Krai Fishermen Trade Union. “This means that the instructions of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin are being implemented, and the fishermen have now hopes of being permitted to sail.” In addition, Igor Kovalenko stated that the primary aim of the picket is to urge authorities to carry out the instructions of Vladimir Putin to resolve the issue of the Kamchatka long-liners and Sakhalin filleting trawlers.”

Captains of the long-liners, who were present at the picket, echoed the general opinion of the fishermen stating that they would rather put to sea than stand outside the Vladimir Putin’s community liaison office.

The Chairman of the Kamchatka Krai Fishermen Trade Union, Deputy of Kamchatka Krai Legislative Assembly Irina Orlova and the Head of Fisheries Department at Kamchatka Krai Ministry of Fisheries Vladimir Davydov wished the fishermen the successful settlement of the issue.
