Racism in Russia at the European Council Agenda
In the country a problem of apatride judicial status still exists and nowadays situation with persons seeking asylum remains unstable
VLADIVOSTOK. 22 September. VOSTOK-MEDIA. European Commission against Racism and Intolerance of European Council on Tuesday will discuss at the one-day meeting actions of the Russian Federation being taken in order to eliminate racism and intolerance.
To a member of Council apparatus, “the main attention will be given to revision of what steps Russia take to eliminate racism and intolerance according to the 3d report of Commission”.
Report which was presented in the end of 2006 says that “for last years Russia has achieved a considerable progress in the mentioned areas”. At the same time, Commission expressed the concern of that law provisions aimed at elimination of racism and intolerance are not fully implemented and especially, officials do not consider enough racists motives to commit a crime”.
To their mind, Russia still face problems of apatrides judicial status of which is still not regulated and a situation with persons seeking asylum and refugee problems are still unsettled”.
