The Russian Army and Fleet are Ready to Participate in Three Local Conflicts

MOSCOW. December, 22. VOSTOK-MEDIA – At the previous holidays Anatoliy Serdukov, Secretary of Defence of Russian Federation proposed to visit key military posts in Severomorsk and St. Petersburg. During this visits the secretary made some significant statements, and one startling statement in particular: “After the reformation the army and the fleet should be ready to participate at least in three regional and local conflicts. Up to now it was possible to participate in one regional conflict and one war.” Among the key aims of the reformation the Secretary emphasized the creation of mobile, fully equipped army and fleet that would be ready to participate at least in three regional and local conflicts. According to some experts Caucasia and Central Asia are among priority areas of assuming menace of regional conflicts. The expert’s opinions as to the third area differed: the Far East (Korea) and Black Sea region (the Crimea) were mentioned equally.
