Though it will not affect negatively the economy of the region

BLAGOVESHENSK. January 23. VOSTOK-MEDIA - Fewer foreigners will work in the Amur region because of the world financial crisis.
At the session of inter-departmental commission regarding attraction and utilization of foreign workers Alexander Reshotnikov, the Secretary for Foreign Economic Relations of the Amur River Region informed that quota sanctioned by the Ministry of Health Care and Social Development of the Russian Federation regarding the issue of employment certificate to the foreign citizens account for 17,634 people. It is by 22 % fewer than was requested by the region.
According to Reshotnikov the Federal Government had to take such steps because of the cutbacks.
“The Russian citizens have priority right to occupy vacancies.”- stated the Secretary –“The decrease of the quota will not affect negatively the economy of the region. According to the results of monitoring 12 companies declared the cut in attraction of foreign workers by 3,000.”
Traditionally, in the Amur River Region, foreigners (chiefly the citizens of the People’s Republic of China) work in the sphere of construction, storage and milling of the wood and agricultural industry. To the smaller extent they are working in gold mining, public catering and motor-car repair.
