Food Supply Security of the Russian Federation is at Stake

VLADIVOSTOK. February 24. VOSTOK-MEDIA – “No matter ho much the agribusiness industry is financed, retail chains will devour everything.”-said Alexey Tret’yakov, chairman of Association of small business in the sphere of consumer market.
The distribution of agricultural products made in the Leningrad Region and other Russian regions is hampered and turn out to be unprofitable because of monopolization of retail market by owners of retail chain.
According to Tret’yakov, 50 billion rubles were voted from Stabilization Fund of the Russian Federation for retailers to pay manufacturers. But the retailers spent the money on purchasing of other companies and not on settling accounts with farmers. “No one’s going to help agroindustrial complex”- complains Tret’yakov, outlining the cheerless picture of relationships between retail chains and manufacturers.
Experts say that food safety of the Russian Federation especially in the time of crisis is at stake.
About 80 % of food commodities in Russian markets are of foreign manufacture.
