Dozens of people have already suffered from the bites of the world’s largest hornets

VLADIVOSTOK. August 24. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Thousands of Asian giant hornets have invaded France. Dozens of people have already suffered from the bites of the world’s largest hornets with wingspan of about 7.5 cm.

"Tiger head bees", as they are called in Taiwan, are spreading across almost all regions of France at a great rate. Experts believe that at such rate they can cross the English Channel and commence spreading across England.

It can be found in Primorsky Krai, Korea, China, Japan, Nepal, India and mountains of Sri Lanka, reported Svobodnaya Pressa (Free Press) news agency.

The stinger of the Asian giant hornet is about 6 mm in length, and injects an especially potent venom. That’s why the bite of this species of hornets is very dangerous. In fact it is more dangerous than that of any species of hornets. The hornets produce a large amount of venom. A Japanese entomologist, who had been exposed to such a bite, described it: “It was like a hot nail being stuck into my leg.” An allergic human stung by the giant hornet may die from an allergic reaction to the venom, which has, like many bee and wasp venoms, a complex chemical composition. Bites of a large amount of hornets may be fatal to a person, who does not suffer from the allergy.
