Europe and Russia: Adversaries or Friends?
Contrary to George Bush calling to unite against Russia, president of France shared his own opinion regarding Russia-French reltions
VLADIVOSTOK. 24 September. VOSTOK-MEDIA. Presidents of France and the USA could not reach an understanding on Iran, Georgia and relations with Russia.
George Bush spoke in the General Assembly blaming Russia in violating the UN Charter and asserted his support towards “new brave democracy” (i.e. Georgia) and asked to impose sanctions on Iran. Nikolas Sarcosy said that Europe wants peace and stable relations with Moscow and joint economic area. He also denounced conflict solving through aggression and acknowledged Iran’s right for peaceful atom.
“Europe does not want to wage a war, Europe wants peace and stability, Europe wants a mutual future with Russia”, - said Nicolas Sarcosy who participated in settlement process on Caucus. Considering “integrated Georgia” French president proved a joint position of Brussels and Washington that “principals of sovereignty and territorial integrity must not be given up”.
Mr. Sarcosy said that Europe and Russia can have good relations and France wants to be a partenr with Russia.
Though, Mr. Sarcosy said that “force in conflict solving is not acceptable”.
