Fishermen Union of Primorskiy Krai Demand to Punish Officials Ordered to Beat Peaceful Citizens

Domestic car industry should prove its marketability by quality. Not by kicking

VLADIVOSTOK. December, 24. VOSTOK-MEDIA –“Even the whole OMON riot police cannot make people purchase Russian low quality cars.”- these are the words of the telegram that were sent by Vladimir Nagorniy, Chairman of regional Union to the head of the Government and Chairman of the State Duma.
The text of the telegram follows:
“Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich and Boris Viacheslavovich. The leaders of the State remark on ceasing people outflows from the regions of Far East. But the outflows are still on because the living standards in the European part of the Russia are higher than that in the Far East. In the European part the housing and public utilities payment is lower. Basic food, goods of prime necessity cost less. Payroll rate of the Far East citizens is disparate with tariffs on housing and public utilities and day-to-day goods’ prices. The rising of the car import tax would deteriorate the situation. The statements of the press that 1,500 auto dealers would be at stake are groundless, because the majority of Far East citizens own imported cars. The Japanese cars proved to be better than Russian ones in terms of building and safe total characteristics. The Government wants Far East citizens to support home car producers delivering to Far East low quality cars with higher prices than on used foreign cars through the rising of car import tax. Though, no central channels reported about the issue why the citizens of Primorskiy Kray prefer used Japanese cars to new Russian ones. The information concerning the protest action held on December, 14 is concealed by the central channels. The rude tyranny of OMON riot police in relation to residents of the city at the central square of the Vladivostok under the pretence of police action among citizens allegedly remonstrating against rise of a car import tax , on December, 21 was covered by the central world channels, but not by Russians ones. The Fishermen Union of Primorskiy Krai voices protest against such Government’s violence as beating peaceful citizens. We demand to punish the officials who gave a command to such lawlessness.
We believe that even the whole OMON riot police cannot make people purchase Russian low quality cars. We support the demand of Far East residents to cancel import tax hike and believe that domestic car industry should prove its marketability by quality and moderate prices, not by hitting the people.
