Court Shuts Down 34 Public Venues in Primorye

VLADIVOSTOK. December 24. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Primorsky Krai prosecution agencies and fire supervision authorities have shut down 34 public hotspots, Primorsky Krai Prosecutor’s Office told RIA Vostok-Media.

The decision to suspend business activities came after the large-scale inspection of places of mass gatherings across Russia. Due to a large number of infringements of fire safety regulations detected, the Prosecutor’s Office has launched a total of 200 administrative offence cases, which have been subsequently submitted to the court for consideration.

As of December 21, 2009, Primorsky Krai courts handled 54 relevant administrative cases. The court has shut down 34 places of mass gatherings and imposed penalties, other than suspension of business activities - fines or warnings , in regard to other 20 public venues. The court has also terminated the proceedings in one administrative case and returned four other cases to the fire safety supervision agency for the correction of defects.

The nationwide inspection of public places of entertainment comes after the deadly fire in a Perm nightclub Lame Horse that claimed the lives of 150.
