“Salmon Park” in Sakhalin

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. December, 25. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The educational and research-and-development center “Salmon Park” will be built in Sakhalin. The beginning of the construction is planned on 2009. It will be similar to the park in the state Oregon (USA).
The project provides for the construction of cultural-educational and research-and-development center in Sakhalin.
“Salmon Park” will set permanent condition monitoring of the river and the population of salmon fishes. As part of the project the salmon museum and ecological school for children will be created. The ecological camp will be built on the banks of the river. Special excursions will be guided for natives and tourists. The participants of the project will define the construction site in January. In February the feasibility study of the project is planned. The construction of the center is scheduled on August the next year. The project will be implemented with the assistance of Sakhalin Region administration.
Despite the fact that there exist 74 natural area of preferential protection in the Sakhalin Region, the issues of preservation of the unique complexes dealing with reproduction of humpback salmon are not discussed. The measures of the nature protection and the maintaining of an ecological balance are not developed and implemented also. There are poor conditions for mass recreation. The creation of this park will solve all these problems.
