The President of the Russian Federation Invites the Prime-Minister of Japan

The main goal of this meeting is to learn progress of the project ‘Sakhalin-2’ and to discuss a range of two-sided questions

MOSCOW. January 26. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Dmitriy Medvedev, the President of the Russian Federation invited Taro Aso, the Prime-Minister of Japan to visit Sakhalin to learn progress of the project ‘Sakhalin-2’ and to discuss a range of two-sided questions.
During 15-minute telephone conversation the Japanese Prime-Minister promised to think over the invitation of the Head of the Russian Government. Presumable time of the visit was not mentioned.
Two sides expressed their contentment as to intensity of Russia-Japan meetings at different levels; in connection with this the plan of contacts on a near-term prospect was discussed.”
We remind that within the framework of the project ‘Sakhalin-2’ the output and liquefaction of the natural gas that will be delivered to Japan has already begun.
