Primorye Sportswomen Participated in Harbin Ice Swimming Event

VLADIVOSTOK. February 26. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Two winter swimming enthusiasts from Primorsky Krai returned from the Chinese city of Harbin, where they had taken part in the second stage of the 27th annual winter swimming competition. The event took place in Sungari River.

Lyudmila Smolyakova, the President of the Far Eastern Center for Winter Swimming, Sport and Tourism and her fellow ice swimmer Galina Sirotyuk had arrived at the competition along with two other Russian sportswomen.

Lyudmila Smolyakova says it’s difficult to count how many miles of ice water she had to swim over the past month, given the temperature never rose above -25 degrees Celsius. Along with swimming, the Nakhodka residents took “tai chi yulicho” classes, which is a Chinese keep-fit exercise.
