The King of Pop Dies at Age 50

VLADIVOSTOK. June 26. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The American pop legend died of a heart attack in a Los Angeles hospital last night at age 50, reported RIA Novosti with reference to Reuters.
Los Angeles fire officials said they responded to a 911 call at Jacksons home and that Jackson wasnt breathing when they arrived. The star was rushed to a Medical Center by paramedics responding to a call from his home at about 12:30 p.m. US newspapers report that attempts to save his life failed and he was pronounced dead before he could be taken into an operating theatre.
Michael Jackson was born in 1958 in Gary, Indiana, and he was quickly pushed into the limelight as the obvious star of the Jackson Five, the singing group put together by his father, Joseph, with five of the Jackson sons.
In the early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African-American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV. In 1982 Michael Jackson released the worlds largest selling album of all time, Thriller. This album produced 7 hit singles, breaking yet again more records, and went on to sell over 50 million copies worldwide.
One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career—more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era—and the sales of over 750 million albums worldwide.
Recent pictures have shown him being pushed in a wheelchair, appearing frail and gaunt and wearing a face mask while being helped across the street. In December, there were reports that Jackson was on his deathbed, suffering from a rare lung condition, which his publicist denied.
