ROTOBO Delegates Visit Khabarovsk

The delegates were interested in the strategy of development of the railway transport till 2030.

The representatives of the Japan Association for Trade with Russia and New Independent States (ROTOBO) visited the Administration of the Far Eastern Railway (FER). The meeting was held on the initiative of the Japanese side.
The FER public relations service reports, the delegation included a professor of the Teikyo University Mr. Genka Tonomory and the ROTOBO senior associate Mr. Nakai Takafumi. The ROTOBO delegates were interested in the strategy of development of the railway transport till 2030. The strategy provides for commissioning of the second river crossing over the Amur River in 2009, reconstruction of the tunnel under the Amur and construction of new railways totally accounting for 3 200 km. The new lines will be directed to the places of mineral deposits.
According to the strategy, in future the Baikal-Amur Mainline will be specialized on passing the heavy-tonnage trains when Trans-Siberian Railway will be used for passing the special container trains and passenger movement.
