VLADIVOSTOK. March 27. VOSTOK MEDIA – Almost 20% of Russians are ready to take part in mass protests.
According to a survey of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VTsIOM –Russian acronym), 21% of the respondents believe that in a city or a village where they live mass protests against the fall of the quality of life are quite possible. Among the possible reasons they call inflation (38%), poor living standards and low wages (27%), continuous increase of costs for housing and public utilities and unsatisfactory work of public services (15%). 18% of the respondents said they were ready to take part in an “uprising”. For the last four years it’s the lowest number: in March of 2005 and 2006 every third pollee claimed about their readiness.
