RF Border Guards Detain three Trawlers in the Sea of Okhotsk
Last weekend border patrol has detained three Russia-flagged trawlers suspected of concealing crab products onboard.
PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. October 27. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Last weekend border patrol has detained three Russia-flagged trawlers suspected of concealing crab products onboard the vessels in the Sea of Okhotsk.
Angara refrigerated seiner-trawler (vessel’s home port – the city of Kholmsk) was stopped by the Border Guard Cruiser Magadanets for inspection. The inspection has shown that the trawler had illegally reloaded crab products onto other Sakhalin vessel “XIX S’ezd VLKSM” (The Nineteenth Congress of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League).
Further inspection of the “XIX S’ezd VLKSM” vessel and Vostochnaya Zvezda refrigerated seiner-trawler revealed that the undocumented crab catch amounted to approximately 8.3 tons was transferred to the vessel by the crew of the three trawlers, owned by a Sakhalin-based fishing company.
As the result of the inspection Angara, XIX S’ezd VLKSM and Vostochnaya Zvezda vessels were arrested by the Border Guard officers. Proceedings against the masters of the vessels were launched. The detained vessels will be convoyed to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky for investigation.
