Vladivostok Hosts Motor Show to Mark Upcoming Day of Motor-Car Industry Workers

Vintage cars, pleasure and kart cars, some of them carrying masterpieces of car spray painting, filled the Central Square of Vladivostok on October 24.

VLADIVOSTOK. October 27. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Vintage cars, pleasure and kart cars, some of them carrying masterpieces of car spray painting, filled the Central Square of Vladivostok on October 24. AutmotoShow Vladivostok-2009 event was held under the auspices of Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service (VSUES) and Vladivostok city Administration.


“Every citizen of our city, in one way or another, is concerned with motor vehicles,” – Sergey Voichenko, Head of regional Transportation Department, addressed the audience gathered at the Central Square of Vladivostok. “I’m a car enthusiast myself with more than thirty years of experience and that’s why it is my holyday too. Everything that is presented at the Central Square today, namely domestic and foreign-made cars as well as car tuning arouses keen interest among city residents. It’s a good thing that we hold such an event on the eve of our holiday – the Day of Motor-car Industry Workers. On this occasion, I wish to congratulate all of you – motorists and participants of the event! Smooth roads to all of you and good luck! AutmotoShow Vladivostok-2009, go ahead!


Delivering his opening speech, Andrey Kalachinsky, Deputy Pro-rector at VSUES, noted that “there are many universities in Vladivostok but only VSUES carries the name of the city and is always striving to make something important, interesting and useful for the city residents. The car exhibition organized by the university provides the audience with opportunities to see a lot of different ways to modify a car. The event also gives car experts a chance to compare results of those beefing up their cars into pieces of art or boosted sports cars.”


Antique domestic cars are presented by Inokhodets car tuning club, whereas the legendary Japan-made vintage cars – by Nittzerwerk team.


GAZes and Toyotas manufactured in 1960 through 1981 drove in procession around the Central Square showing their unrivalled technical excellence and embarked on a motor raсe from Vladivostok to Ussuriisk to mark the upcoming holiday.


Roman, the leader of the informal group of drag-racing enthusiasts Overboots Club, which has presented super sports cars at the Central Square of Vladivostok, said - “We have been converting ordinary cars into stunning dragsters for five years. So, if you want to get your car unpimped, just contact me.”


Tom Abiyaka, chief manager of Art-Tom design studio, believes that every vehicle may be turned into a visual arts masterpiece. His skillful hand decorated doors of silver Toyota with Vrubel-esque swans. Three cute red-haired tiger cubs were painted on a rear door of an offroadster. Jack Sparrow, a character from "Pirates of the Caribbean," was smiling at you from the side of the Hummer.


“If you are not a talented artist, then car spray painting is not for you,” – Tom stated authoritatively. – “Back in 2000, when no one heard about aerograhy I switched from canvas to metal. Two years later I took a second place in all-Russia Aerographers Contest.”


AutmotoShow Vladivostok-2009 event gathered a lot of people at the Central Square of Vladivostok and proved to be very successful.
