Pacific 2010 Rally Kicks off in Ussuriisk

VLADIVOSTOK. May 28. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The first stage of the Pacific 2010 rally will be held in Ussuriisk on May 28-29. The event will officially open a series of car races in Primorsky Krai, which take place as part of the Far Eastern Federal District Championship.

The championship includes a total of five stages and is held from February through October in Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk, Ussuriisk and Vladivostok.

Primorsky Krai Motorists’ Federation and Ussuriisk Motorsports Federation are the main organizers of the event. Support comes from Technoholding Sumotori.

Rally racing is one of the most exciting forms of racing, which includes fast driving over long distances on roads with different surfaces. This sport demands high driving qualities and maneuverability of a sports car, and courage, high driving skills, physical endurance and quick reaction of the crew.

Organizers said the opening ceremony of the Pacific 2010 will be held at the Central Square of Ussuriisk, which is the starting line of the race and a venue for the prize giving ceremony.

During the two-day event, more than 20 teams will compete in the 200-km race. The race wil be broadcast on a large screen mounted at the Central Square.

Along with the opening ceremony, the Central Square will host a number of festive events, a performance of a rock-band and an amazing show. The audience will have a chance to see new models of Suzuki SX4, a sports car that takes part in rallying seasons of World Rally Championship.

The event opens on May 28 at 3:00pm, at the Central Square of Ussuriisk. On May 29, the prize giving ceremony will be held there.
