Minor Earthquake Hits Magadan

MAGADAN. December 28. VOSTOK-MEDIA – An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale occurred 27 km southeast of Magadan in the early morning hours of Sunday, a Magadan-based contributor to RIA Vostok-Media reports.

The earthquake that occurred at a depth of 33 kilometers, with its epicenter about 60 km from Magadan, was felt in the city and the neighboring communities, Ola and Gadla.

“We heard some noise and then the furniture started vibrating," a Magadan resident says, “I was frightened and wanted to escape but then it suddenly stopped shaking.”

According to the Far Eastern Regional Center of EMERCOM, the earthquake caused no casualties and damage to the buildings.
