Russian and Mongolian ecological committee approved the ecologists’ idea of creating a boundary reserve - Istoki Amura (Sources of Amur).

VLADIVOSTOK. April 29. VOSTOK MEDIA - The Russian-Mongolian environmental committee in cooperation with WWF Russia and WWF Mongolia approved the idea of creating a boundary reserve - Istoki Amura (Sources of Amur). Eastern Mongolia is a part of the Amur basin. One of its sources – the Onon river – begins there. We should preserve Amur sources if we want to save the river.
The press service of WWF Russia reports that this problem was raised at the conference of the Russian-Mongolian environmental committee in Ulan Bator. The representatives of the two countries decided to prepare a project for creation of a protected natural area - Sources of Amur – at the border of Russia and Mongolia. This will help to avoid problems with fire extinguishing.
The ecologists consider that special passages for migration of the Mongolian antelope should be created to preserve bio-diversity of Amur. The possibility of removing parts of the Russian-Mongolian border was discussed during the conference. The partial removing of borders is required for antelope migration. Moreover the initiative of expanding the Daurskiy reserve was supported. The reserve is a habitat for lots of unique species.
