110th Anniversary of Vladivostok-Primoryan Diocese

VLADIVOSTOK. 29 October. VOSTOK-MEDIA. Primorye is preparing to celebration of Vladivosatok-Primoryan Diocese anniversary. A special entertaining program is being prepared. An exhibition “110 years of Vladivostok-Primorian Diocese” will be held in Primorskiy State Museum of V.K. Arseniev. Divine Liturgy will be held in Svyato-Nikolskiy Cathedral. After that a religious procession will be organized from Svyato-Nikolskiy Cathedral to Pokrov Holy Virgin Cathedral moving the main Far Eastern Icon of Port-Arthur God’s Mother in Pokrovskiy Cathedral.
Praying and all-night vigil are expected to be held in Pokrovskiy Cathedral.
A Divine Liturgy and a celebration of 110th anniversary of Vladivostok-Primoryan Diocese and 70th jubilee of Archbishop Vladivostokskiy and Primorskiy Veniamin will be held in Pokrov Holy Virgin Cathedral.
Spreading of Christianity in the Far East was started by saint bishop Innokentiy (Veniaminov) in the 1850-1860s who was a Kamchatskiy, Kurilskiy and Aleutskiy archbishop. Vladivostok Diocese was established by Emperor Nikolay II in 1898. After an estabslishment of independent Vladivostok Diocese in the II part of the XIX century orthodoxy quickly spread in Primorye. Nowadays, Vladivostok Diocese is holding missionaries and education, conducting conferences and seminars, implementing social projects and contributing to preserve of culture and history of Russia.
