A Stork’s Nest was Made by a Human

KHABAROVSK. March 30. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The program called ‘Make a nest for a stork’ aimed at preservation of the Far Eastern stork was discussed at the intersessional meeting of the scientific and technical council of the state reserve ‘Bolon’skiy’. Its aim is to attract the residents and industrial facilities of Khabarovsk region to implementation of the program.
The trees that are convenient for nesting get destroyed by yearly fires. It poses major menace to the population of these birds. And storks are famous for conservatism of their nesting behavior. That’s why these birds need people residing in nearby regions to help them.
The program provides for making artificial nests in the places of permanent habitation of the Far Eastern storks, monitoring of their settlement and the assistance to specialists in examination of the state of health and banding of nestlings and implementation of measures for protection of inhabited nests from fire.
