More than Half of Russians Began to Save Expenses on Food

VLADIVOSTOK. March 30. VOSTOK-MEDIA – A recent survey conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center shows that incomes of Russian citizens reduces by 56 % and many people barely make a living.
The number of Russian citizens living below the poverty line increased by two times from 8 % in February, 2008 to 14 % in February 2009. The number of people who spent their whole income on food increased from 28 % to 32 %.
50 % of Russians began to save money on food, 42 % - on clothing and shoes, 30 % on entertainment, 29 % of citizens – on medical treatment.
20 % of People decided not to buy household appliances, 18 % refrained from buying real estate, 16 % decided to employ public transport. Though, 12 % of Russians stated that they do not save money.
