US Offer Help After Moscow Metro Blasts

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev asked law enforcement agencies and FSB officials to beef up security on the public transport system nationwide to avoid its destabilization.

VLADIVOSTOK. March 30. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The USA is willing to help the Russian Government following two deadly suicide bombings on the Moscow subway Monday, Philip Crowley, a spokesman for US State Department, said in a media briefing.


According to him, the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has transmitted a written statement concerning the tragedy in Moscow, is going to offer her condolences personally at the meeting with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, which will take place today. Hillary Clinton and Sergei Lavrov are taking part in the ministerial meeting in Ottawa to plan for G8 meeting, Vesti news channel reported.


“Together with out G8 partners we will discuss how to further strengthen international counter-terrorism coordination and cooperation,” she said.


The two suicide bombings rocked the capital of Russia Monday, March 29. The first explosion occurred at Lubyanka station at 7:57; the second bomb went off at Park Kultury station at 8:37. March 30 has been declared a day of mourning in Moscow. The Moscow metro has resumed its operation.
