VLADIVOSTOK. March 26. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The members of the Russian Academy of Sciences went on an expedition in Ussuriysk taiga. The aim of the expedition is to observe the Siberian tigress, on which the Russian Prime Minister V. Putin put a tracking collar.
Ussuriysk Reserve is forty-thousand hectares of taiga. It is just a spot on the map of Primorskiy Krai.
The habitat of a tiger may be as much as dozens of square kilometers. The beast often uses the same paths. The scientists have already marked dozens of such paths. In spring, once snow melted away, the scientists from the Russian Academy of Sciences will return there and will work till autumn. The paths will be equipped with loops and photo-traps. The aim of the project is ambitious – all animals detected in the reserve should be put tracking collars.
