The Military Prosecutors Office of the Russian Navy Go to Bat for Workers on Strike

A letter of citation has been issued to the General Director of Military Plant, warning him that the existing laws may not be violated

VLADIVOSTOK. August 6. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The Military Prosecutors Office in the Vladivostok Military Base in collaboration with the regional law enforcement agencies and supervisory authorities has carried out a set of supervisory actions relating to the workers’ wages arrears at OAO 50th Ordnance Maintenance Shop owned by the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, reported the press-service of the Military Prosecutors Office of the RF Navy Pacific Fleet.

To detect violations of the law and restore civil rights which have been infringed the Military Prosecutors Office has taken the following measures:

The Military Prosecutors Office in the Vladivostok Military Base has issued a letter of citation to the General Director of OAO 50th Ordnance Maintenance Shop, A.A.Bessonov warning him that the existing laws may not be violated.

On July 31, 2009 the probe materials on illegal actions of the General Director were submitted to the Investigation Department of Investigative Committee at the Public Prosecutors Office of the Russian Federation in the Vladivostok Military Base in the procedure provided for in Article 144, 145 of the CPC RF, in regard to the presence of elements of crime in his actions, provided for in Part 1, Article 145 of the CPC RF.

Following up on the complaints made by workers the Military Prosecutors Office has submitted upwards of 194 claims to the court. All claims have been satisfied in full.

On February 6, 2009, the management of the Shipyard Department of the Russian Federation has been instructed that the violations of the labour law, committed by OAO 50th Ordnance Maintenance Shop, be eliminated.
