Bringing the vessel afloat is scheduled for today

KHABAROVSK. August 24. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Today the defueling of an oil vessel, which took the ground when it entered the port of Okhotsk, Khabarovsk Krai, has been completed. According to the press-service office of the Far Eastern Branch of MES of Russia it was reported yesterday early in the afternoon that the oil vessel moving without pilotage guidance and navigation control had run aground at the mouth of Kukhtuy river. There was 200 tons of gas oil on board the ship.

None of the crew members got injured; no oil spills were registered and there is no danger of environmental pollution.

A response team of the MES of Russia for Khabarovsk Krai arrived at the accident site. Once the assessment of the situation at hand was made the response team decided to defuel the vessel and engaged two barges for this purpose.

After the defueling, an effort was made to bring the vessel afloat, but then it was decided to delay the operation because of the strong sea disturbance.
